RICH KIM is an award-winning, American television director whose nearly two-decade career spans more than 60 television series. He has earned three DGA Award nominations, three Daytime Emmy nominations, a Creative Arts Emmy nomination for LEGO Masters, and in 2023 received a Daytime Emmy Award for Recipe for Change.
Rich is driven by a passion for creating immersive, 360-degree worlds that captivate audiences and bring each project to life with bold, cinematic storytelling. From music performance and competition reality to talk shows and music videos, his versatility has made him a trusted collaborator for leading networks and streaming platforms, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple, FOX, Disney+, NBC, ABC, CBS, TBS, MTV, Bravo, VH1, and YouTube Originals.
Rich's television credits include LEGO Masters, MasterChef, Is It Cake?, Making it, Wipeout, Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, and the Real World. His music videos have earned Dove Awards and toured internationally with ResFEST.
Equally comfortable directing from a broadcast truck or on location for a multi-cam documentary, Rich’s extensive work in reality and studio TV gives him a deep understanding of both environments—allowing him to merge them seamlessly and deliver large-scale, cinematic moments on all his shows.
Rich also made his mark as the creator and executive producer of Knife Fight, a 70-episode cooking competition series celebrated for its innovative style and its spotlight on premier culinary talent.
Rich Kim earned a BFA in Film/Photography/Electronic Visualization from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute, where he received the prestigious Franklin J. Schaffner Award for Best Thesis Film.
Based in Los Angeles, Rich lives with his wife and two daughters, continually pushing creative boundaries through his work.
