ABOUT ME


RICH KIM's directing career spans twenty years; it includes over 40 series, 70 seasons and over a 1000 episodes of unscripted television. Some of television's most iconic series bear his name:  LEGO Masters, Master Chef, Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, Making it!, Red Table Talks, The White Rapper Show, Skin Wars, Simple Life, Road Rules, and the Real World to name a few.  Rich has been nominated for a 2020 Primetime Emmy Award, the 2021 DGA Award for Outstanding directing for LEGO Masters, and the 2019 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Informative Talk Show for  Red Table Talks.

RICH has directed a wide range of genres, from music performance and game, to talk, documentary, and competition reality.  He's as comfortable directing a line cut from a truck as he is single camera coverage on location.  He has worked with networks including Netflix, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, MTV, Bravo, Viceland, VH1, and Facebook Watch.

RICH created and executive produced a cooking competition series Knife Fight, for the Esquire Network. The show's innovative style and inclusion of elite chefs made it a fan favorite of chefs and foodies worldwide, for four seasons.

RICH has a BFA in Film/Photography/Electronic Visualization from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Rich also has an MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute, where he won the Franklin J. Schaffner Award for best film.  In addition, his music videos are Dove Award winners and have toured with ResFEST.  

RICH currently lives in Redondo Beach, California with his wife and two young daughters.
